Isoenzyme analysis
Isoenzyme analysis, a technique to determine the species of cell lines, is performed in Procelltech as Cell Line Identity assay and it is usually carried out in conjunction with DNA profiling to fully authenticate cells. This assay is performed in compliance to International Guide Lines (ICH Q5D).
Isoenzymes can be used to identify a variety of species. Isoenzyme analysis looks at a range of enzymes which are present in nearly all species but demonstrate heterogeneity between species as seen by electrophoresis. By analyzing these isoenzyme profiles and comparing the migration patterns with known standards and controls it is possible to speciate cell lines.

The isoenzymes used in this assay are: Aspartate aminotransferase, Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, Lactate dehydrogenase, Malate dehydrogenase
